Introduce yourself…name, job title, & the company you work for.

I’m Noel Ady, Founder and Principal Consultant at gravity9.

In a nutshell, what do you do?

gravity9 is a digital business comprising of c.100 developers, QA’s, solutions architects, designers and consultants based across the UK, Poland and the Americas. We specialise in application modernization; helping organisations move from, often antiquated applications to applications that are ai driven, more user friendly and have a lower cost of ownership.

We are fortunate enough to work with a wide range of organisations across a range of sectors including banking& finance, leisure, healthcare, public sector, housing and many more across the globe.

How long have you been working in Digbeth?

We have always had a base in Birmingham, our original location was within the Spaces offices on Bull St, however we never felt it reflected our culture which unites art and science. Relocating to the Custard Factory in November 2023 was the ideal move. As our team as distributed, we don’t just use it for office space we also host educational events and discussion panels as well as recording our podcast, Digital Matters (New subscribers always welcome!)

What makes your business so special?

It may sound like cliché, but it really is the people. We only employ senior highly skilled individuals, who come together in small teams to bring about big change for our clients, quickly. We are also a great bunch of people to work with, friendly, fun and always looking at new ways to do things.

What do you like most about working in Birmingham’s Creative Quarter?

We were instantly welcomed; from the day we moved in and strangers offering the help carry boxes for us through to the friendly good mornings and hellos on the stairwell. We also love the vibrancy and variety of organsiations we work alongside in the Digbeth community, we may be new to the area, but we love it and are here to stay. Digbeth embodies both industry and art, it has such a rich history, those things combined, I find so appealing.

Where do you normally go for lunch in B9?

Lunch is something we rarely plan so it's often a trip to Kanteen, the food there is always great, plus if we are in the office on a Thursday night the Rico Libre tapas is hard to resist. We are regulars at The Crown on a Tuesday evening though, as we often work late so run in for some dinner and a glass of red before heading home. Also, the fish tacos at Chance and Counters are fantastic!

Do you have a recommendation for the best thing to do in Digbeth outside of work?

We’ve enjoyed several nights out around Digbeth at The Night Owl, Roxy Lanes and Mama Rouxs, we love the range of activities on offer, it's always fun and vibrant. You can’t beat a relaxing pint or a glass of red in the Old Crown though!

What are you currently working on?

We're fortunate to collaborate with visionary clients across various sectors, including property management, healthcare, telecommunications, retail, and, more recently, the public sector. Our projects are diverse, but they all share a common focus on cutting-edge technology. Central to our efforts is the integration of artificial intelligence, particularly generative AI. This technology is not just a component of our work; it's at the heart of our innovation, enhancing our solutions and partnerships across all areas
